I like when Raleigh540 responds to posts, because I can't see them. I just know he was there, and that I've successfully ignored whatever foolishness he has posted.
Jacksonville, Fl has a city limits population of 800,000 and a CSA metro of 1.5 million, barely larger than Wake County, and they have an NFL team. I guess if you really else nothing going on to compete……hello Charlotte???

I understand what you are saying. I think if we are talking purely about "which one is and feels like the bigger city", Charlotte is going to win that contest. By the nature of being larger, it's going to be able to offer additional amenities that Raleigh doesn't have yet.
But larger doesn't always mean better. Raleigh offers quirks and cultural oddities (like most larger cities) that Charlotte may be able to mimic, but not actually have organically. I've always felt like Raleigh was the "brainier" of the two and I enjoy going to Raleigh for it's more eclectic feel and superior music scene. I also find Raleigh to have a more prominent "creative" industry than Charlotte.
Both cities have over 2 million residents, so Charlotte isn't THAT much larger so that it would offer much more than Raleigh in the way of amenities. They both offer pretty much what any city of 2 million+ would offer.
Nope, because those cities are light years apart in size, importance, and almost any other metric you might use to compare them. Raleigh and Charlotte are very close together in nearly every way...more like Nashville and Memphis in TN or Columbus and Cleveland in OH.
Now THIS is what reasonable looks like Thanks JT!
But I think it's falling on dear ears with the Charlatan echo chamber I'd hate to be so insecure in my city that I would have to point to some tall buildings to justify a "better" city and for the reason why anyone would want to live there. Cleveland has taller buildings than DC, most people I think would rather live in DC for all it's world class cultural, educational, and culinary raves….DC even has sports teams who have won national titles so it's a great sports city too for those who like to pull for winning teams.
I think that the triangle is more into the 3 major universities as their sports entertainment. The Hurricane has a big job of getting a large fan base. Most people in the south do not have a big love a ice hockey. You need a large population from hockey county to fill up the PNC Arena.
We have a lot ACC and SEC fans in Charlotte. UNC charlotte is now play football but it is not ACC or SEC at the present.
I would say pro sports are bigger in Charlotte than local Colleges and universities. We have so many people from outside NC. 3 counties in Charlotte Metro are South Carolina or Clemson fans.
The University of South Carolina has a MBA program in Charlotte

No, I live in Durham now....not really Raleigh, rarely do anything there. Raleigh is much smaller than Charlotte.

Most people in NC have love for basketball teams that win. Hockey and all pro sports will always play 2nd fiddle to collegiate sports and collegiate basketball in NC. Pro teams will always move around, NC's collegiate powerhouse will be in the Triangle forever.
Do any of you think soccer will become a big thing in Raleigh and Charlotte?
