Those are probably Salamanders. They are black w/ blue streaks?

I'm new to the state NC but I swear I can't find anything on what I saw in my garage last night it looked to be a reddish brownish orangish looking gecko with four red circles going down both sides of its body can someone tell me what it was now that I'm researching the thing I was I hadn't let it free. Maybe a new species of gecko here??? IDK...

Lots of salamanders and lizards in NC. The Carolina anole is very common. They can change their skin color to grey. The five-lined skink is one of my faves.

I really like this website for herps of NC:

I know your post was many months ago. I just wanted to reassure you there are geckos in NC. We have them where we live. (Cumberland County) They are tiny house geckos that we have seen. We have had them looked at by a specialist and they are definitely house geckos. I had never seen them in some other areas of town that we have lived, but they thrive very well in this area inside and outside. They cause no harm. Because of that, they are very welcome here to eat whatever little critters we do not want around.

God bless

You may have some type of lizard, but not a gecko. No geckos live in NC.

You'll know it's a Gecko if it starts talking to you about car insurance. Otherwise, it's another type of lizard.
