Let me preface this; my aunt sold me her vehicle in March and so that's when I titled it. The inspection wasn't due until Oct, so I had my vehicle inspected yesterday. I didn't realize that I need to give them the registration at the time the vehicle was inspected. To save me the inconvenience of going back into my vehicle (I am disabled) the guy at the inspection station offered to look for my registration in my glove box. He grabbed the old registration (my aunts) by mistake.,

He ran the inspection. It passed.

When it came time to pay, he had substituted my aunt's name instead of mine. I told him that he had pulled the wrong registration (it was the same VIN #, just registered to a different person) and he said it didn't make a difference--that I am legal since the vehicle passed inspection. Can anyone confirm this?

DMV goes by license # and VIN so you should be fine.
