Relocating to Fayetteville with 2 large dogs (Fort Bragg: apartment, for rent, insurance)

I'm moving to Fort Bragg area and I have spoken to some management companies and they won't rent to me because I have a Rottweiler, they mentioned something about them being an agressive breed. I also have a sheltie as well, the management companies don't care about the sheltie only the rottweiler. I need at least a 3 bedroom house, I have 2 children, we are military family. Would I be able to find someone that will rent to me with my rottweiler. I'm also looking for suggestions for quiet neighborhoods and good schools, I have a daughter in 5th grade. I'm willing to pay up until 1100.00 for rent. My husband is army and I work from home for a telecom company, so I can take my job with me.

I think there is an off-post housing list that Fort Bragg keeps although I am not sure where to find it. Maybe they can help you as well. More and more insurance companies won't insure homes if there is an aggressive breed such as rottweiler. Good luck with your move.

Please let me know if you have housing with your rottweiler. We are also being relocated and have 2 large dogs. 1 Rottweiler and 1 St. Bernard. My rottweiler is the BIGGEST baby ever! I don't understand why they are on the aggressive list. It is all in how they are raised. If you treat a little dog poorly they too become aggressive. And who gets to say what dog is aggresive and which are not? That is insane. Sorry about the fustration.. My Sammy is my baby! I do not want to get rid of or leave him behind. He is family! I don't know of any apartment or managment company that would allow Rotties due to insurance restrictions. If you still want to rent vs buy then you better look for a private owner on Militarybyowner, AHRN, or craigslist.

We would be willing to rent to own even. If anybody knows anywhere that does that.
