I am in the initial stages of making plans to move south to North Carolina within the next 1-2 yrs. I would like some input to help me with my relocation. I am currently in school finishing my BS in Business Administration. Both my children are school age. I was thinking about Greenville or Charlotte area?? Which city would you suggest? Must be family friendly and not a high crime rate. Crime free would be impossible ...lol

Choose one of two where the job is and the cost of living is something you can afford.

Two years is a long time away to be picking a specific city, though it's admirable that you're doing your research instead of just plopping down in whatever city made a "best place to live" list with no forethought, like so many seem to do.

You don't say why you've chosen NC in the first place, let alone those two cities. What do you know about the area firsthand?

With that much lead time, you should visit both cities (and others) and then you can see whether you prefer Charlotte or Greenville, or somewhere else. We don't know you, so we can't possibly tell you whether YOU would like one place over another, but once you'v visited, you will have an idea and can ask more targetted questions when it gets closer to the time you are planning to move. You may completely fall in love with another state before then, or get a great job offer somewhere far away.
