You folks remember during the 2007/2008 drought when we were told to conserve water? We did, our bills went down, revenue decreased and the following year the rates were raised? This is the same thing. Nobody complained about the water rates though because the Democrats were in control. So quit being hypocrites. You cannot remove a revenue source and not expect the government to compensate.
Water rates are typically the purview of local governments, not the state. Republicans dominate local government here in Cabarrus County. But you are correct, rates did go up because of a decrease in revenues.
Fine. Property tax cars by how fuel inefficient they are. Raise the gas tax.

Yes- it already costs more to by an equivalent vehicle that's hybrid or electric (ie less pollution, reduce demand for fossil fuels) compared to gasoline-so people are paying more tax when they purchase them.
In the UK you pay LESS road tax if you have an engine that's fuel efficient/and or has lower emisisons eg hybrid, smaller cubic capacity, diesel etc. Engine sizes are way smaller generally anyway. It's the people driving the gas guzzlers who should pay more to discourage people buying them and manufacturers making them.

Yeah, we went the opposite direction and made it so you can write off 100% of the purchase price of an SUV through the section 179 loophole, as long as its GVWR is over 6000 lbs.
