You have no idea what I would say.

Your answer is basically "two wrongs make a right", lol.

I'm willing to pay a lot more. At this point anything under 18k a year is cheaper than private school.

NC pubs cut corporate tax rates and rates for the wealthiest at the expense of public education. They even managed to find money for PRIVATE SCHOOL VOUCHERS, but R leaders say "the money HAD to come from somewhere". WTF?!?

Is anyone paying attention?

Yes, those arguing that the only place money could come from to pay teachers more is Medicaid ignore all of the corporate and millionaires' tax cuts, never mind private school vouchers and whatever the costs of enforcing almost the strictest voting laws in the country turn out to be. Most Medicaid services can't even be cut even if the Legislature wanted; Federally they are required in order to receive Federal match. There is actually not but a little bit of wiggle room in the Medicaid budget available for cutting, and the lobbyists keep most of those from happening.

So now our suffering public schools will be bled even drier, as will the teachers' bank accounts, just so we can pay people to take their kids OUT of the public schools.

I just can't fathom the thought process here. It makes me sad, Rs and Ds can't even see eye to eye on seemingly universal issues. It feels like spite, especially considering Perdue's stance on education. We knew it was coming, but I'm shocked at the extent and depth of the cuts.

Rs are on the wrong side of history here, and unfortunately that's no surprise.
