Hi all, just a nobody from the UK here - I've recently found out that my employer is sending me to Waynesville (I think that's what it's called!) for a few months this summer and I was wondering what there is to do there while I'm not slaving away...
I'm in to running so are there running tracks or trails? Also I'm a big fan of stand-up comedy, are there any stand-up clubs in the area?

Are you looking for things to do across the state or Waynesville area?
Waynesville is located near Asheville in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina.
Since it is in Mountains there is plenty of trails, waterfalls, white water rafting.
As a mod of the forum, if your inquiring about that area would you like me to redirect the thread there?

You'll be near Asheville, which can certainly keep you busy for a summer, and in the other direction, the college town of Cullowhee and nearby Sylva are charming little towns that are gorgeous to visit.
I agree that the Mountains forum would be more appropriate is you're just looking for Waynesville.
North Carolina is divided into three main regions — the mountains, where Waynesville is, the piedmont where most growth and industry and tech is, and the coastal plain. There are lots and lots of things to do in the mountain region. You might like to explore Our State magazine to get a feel for the whole state.
