It's crazy in the Triad. Power outage percentages as of right now:

99.2% in Davidson County
91.4% in Randolph County
76.8% in Alamance County
62.0% in Guilford County

SunnyKayak is conspicuously absent today. So many people are in the dark and cold tonight, it is truly sobering.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A chunk of ice that's roughly the size of a volleyball fell from Charlotte's tallest building, smashing through the back window of a car with children inside, according to a witness.

NBC Charlotte originally posted this article with pictures from Jamison Woodfin, who works on the other side of North Tryon Street, across from the Bank of America Corporate Center uptown.

DURHAM, N.C. — Gov. Pat McCrory has signed a State of Emergency declaration and waived weight and services restrictions on truck drivers to expedite response to the winter storm, according to WTVD.

“While we have become very experienced in winter storm response during the past two months, each storm is different and can require different resources,” McCrory said. “Today we’re seeing more power outages than we had during any of the previous storms this year, and we need to do all that we can as quickly as we can to help those in need.”

The icy conditions, along with extensive rain and wind, are being blamed for thousands of power outages.

Over 400,000 North Carolina residents are without power as of 3:45 p.m. on Friday.

Im here sparingly. Trying to conserve battery and stick with earlier trying to load live feeds.
I dont know when power went out but woke up with it . I tried to call Duke but all they want was my account number ... pfft.
Witness a pine tree fall as I was taking out the trash. The sound is so crazy amazing. I had appt at one, called for it to be rescheduled at 3:30 in Asheboro. I kept looking at traffic maps and it was showing slow so i went up to Archdale to hop on I73.
It would been quicker on 64 but I was paranoid about getting hit by a tree especially after one hit a fire truck. I attempted to stop off exit 111 but everything was closed. The lights at that ramp was out and what could have been a tragic scene was the opposite. I love Triad drivers as they are so considerate. It was so textbook in way everyone treated it like a 4way stop sign. 4 lanes of traffic including merge lanes and ramps amazing.

Things look in Asheboro, what open it was like Christmas lol. I guess it was everyone without power.
I come back around 4, the sun out and it was like nothing happen lol.
Except for nature doing some landscaping.

The neighbor in the neighborhood next door put salt in my wound of no power by turning on the backyard flood lights. A huge tree fell across road is why our power out. Thankfully there another entrance to the neighborhood. Sorry for long winded post, it was something to do in the dark. Im sleeping on couch by gas fireplace, however it finally mild.
This post was 20% battery power. Looks like tomorrow is Spring Clean the freezer and fire up the grill.

They removed the big tree this morning it took 3 dump trucks and a front loader. I took the time to do Spring cleaning of the freezer, IMO it nature way to stop me procrastinating on doing it lol. It was a lot easier to see or hear what is freezer burned.
Power came on around noon, trying to get my online fix.

I mention last fall this state was due for an ice storm, because cedars at Huntersville home look to good hehe.
Actually I think it like snow, a good one happens every two years.
