Salisbury Crime statistics (high crime, homes, college) - North Carolina (NC) - City-Data Forum

Is there anyone here from the Salisbury area that could provide some context for the reasonably high crime index ratings in Salisbury? I'm just curious if there is a significant amount of "random" crime or if it is more domestic related stuff. Are there certain areas of the town that are more dangerous than others? I'm considering a move to the area and I really like the homes and pictures I've seen of the downtown, but those numbers concern me a bit.

I lived in Salisbury for a few years and my spouse's family has been there all their lives. Most of the crime seems to be drug related, and there are concentrated pockets. GENERALIZATIONS: The residential areas between Main St. and I-85 are not good. The area around Livingstone College is not good.
