I've been accepted to 4 colleges that all seem pretty nice-
Methodist University- Fayetteville
UNC Charlotte- Charlotte
NC State- Raleigh
Winstom-Salem State University- Winstom Salem
---
Methodist University-
Now i feel that i'm stuck. Since i'm already at Methodist University, if I stay there i'm going to have to move somewhere else. LL just isn't a good sub division, with people with loud speakers holding boomboxes on there shoulders as they drive there 28's. I was looking at this once place but it's too close to Cambridge Arms which scares the hell out of me.
---
Then there is NC State-
I like the area of NC State a lot. Raleigh is full of many friendly people, and more importantly, i can put my computer science degree to some good.
---
UNC Charlotte-
I can barely get rid of this option because I love Charlotte. The only problem with moving to Charlotte that i could think of is well- the acceptance rate for College is much more then both NC State and Methodist University. I think my career will be more attentive to hire me if i go to a school with barely a acceptance rate such as Duke and Harvard University.
----
Winstom salem State University-
I haven't hear much about it but the acceptance rate is pretty low.
---
Acceptance rates-
UNC Charlotte= 71%
Methodist University= 62%
NC State= 49.6%
Winstom Salem State University= 62%

I would pick NC State. I think it has the best CS program of the four. That should be your main criterion for which school to choose, not the number of boom boxes or friendly people.

Don't confuse acceptance rate with quality of education. Just because a school turns down a lot of applicants doesn't mean the program is better or worse than others. It also doesn't mean that the people they accept are "more quality" students.

Comp Sci? Go for Charlotte or State. They both have a large presence in their cities. NC State is ranked higher and has some great connections in Raleigh, but Charlotte is a great school as well (their CS program is comparable to most notable state schools).

Just an example of what I mean about acceptance rate...let's say you have school A and school B. School A is a smaller school at the beach, and is a popular destination school because students want to live at the beach (understandable). School B is a larger school with no geographic desirability but has a large applicant pool due to the quality of its programs.

School A
3,000 accepted
10,000 apply
Rate= 30%

School B
6,000 accepted
10,000 apply
Rate= 60%

Either way, your big NC research schools are all pretty reputable. Perform well in your first job and you wont even need to look back.

Of the options you mentioned NC State would be the best option for your major. You will also get more name recognition outside the area if you choose to take employment elsewhere. I've heard their new campus is impressive.

NC State has an excellent CS program. I believe it's one of the best in the country.
