I see a lot of your comments seem to blame the Dems of NC for the effects of a global financial crisis. A crisis caused in no small part by a lack of regulation on the banking industry and this backwards ass mentality of "get the government out of the way and the economy will be fine". Yeah... not so much.
Since you are attempting to label me I will clarify.

I'm not a teaparty person, republican or democrat. I am a realist.. I've made that point clear I think. I voted for Obama, Perdue, Hagan in 2008. They failed at everything they said they were going to do, so now, like many in NC, I don't support them. From a NC perspective, Obama lost the state in 2012, Perdue is gone, and I predict Hagan will sink like a brick thrown in the river later this year.

I think people would do themselves a world of good if they stop tying themselves to a single party that they will vote for no matter what. I've said before here there isn't much difference between the Democrats and GOP at a high level, but I do support what they are doing in NC at this time. I didn't vote for McCrory in 2012, but that doesn't mean I can't support his actions in regards to taxes.

You are labeling yourself, I don't have to do it for you. Just saying "they're all bad" doesn't mean the other ridiculous assertions you make are valid!

But again, you are missing the forest for the trees. The curse of one-off responses.

Let us not forget your first post in this topic was to give us a wild theory about McCrory needing votes in Charlotte. Data proved that wrong and you dropped it without comment when shown the facts.

I don't care about NJ.
My first post did say that McCrory is trolling for votes & I still think that. He doesn't have to win Mecklenburg but he needs more votes than the percent that he got in 2008.

I really don't give a rat's patoot if you don't care about NJ. These are 2 NJ companies that are the topic of this thread. The former NJ residents are saying that it's property taxes that are bringing them, not a lame tax cut like the one that has been playing out in NJ for decades.

It's not about your political views or anyone else's. Why did these 2 companies choose to leave NJ & come here? We told why with as little detail as possible, since this isn't the NJ board. One of the companies gave 3 reasons which included schools, access to an international airport, & overall livability (that would be not being choked by property taxes)

Just to explain my point that McCrory is trolling for votes. . .earlier this year Kings Mountain did a deal with a Florida company for a $450 million natural gas power plant. Anybody see McCrory on TV praising that? No, because it won't get him votes in Charlotte & most people out here are POed about his stance on the potential casino/slots parlor.

Forgetting for the moment that McCrory isn't running for election for two years, he does not have to worry about Western NC. It is thoroughly RED and I've already explained why Charlotte doesn't matter.

There is no need to spend much in the way of campaign dollars in the western markets especially 2+ years before the election. As I said earlier, campaigns are won/lost in NC in the Eastern part of the state. This is where all the major TV campaigning will take place just like it did in 2008 and 2012.

(by the way, all politicians troll for votes)

No matter what state you live in and its overall political persuasion, the main driver behind it all is money. Politics has a lot less idealism in it than it used to have. It's simply a big wad of cash with sound bites attached to it. The votes each pile of money pulls in, are almost an incidental effect.

When voting consists of not really liking any candidate, but selecting the one you dislike the least, our political process is in trouble.

I wonder how many companies would have moved to NC in the last few years without a pile of cash and tax credits being waved in their faces. Would McCrory's seeming successes occurred, if say, the Governor of Georgia offered each company $5,000,000 more? Once the money and tax credits are gone, how long do these new companies and corporations stay before they start looking for the next pile of cash? Anybody remember the big Dell plant? Shuttered and gone, like Haines and the big furniture makers.

Money talks and BS walks!

Boss - When you lower the income tax and freeze the sales tax, your property tax is the only tax that can be altered to keep the flow of money going. This is especially true in NC where the state legislature has such a tight rein on financial decisions. The current makeup of the state legislature combined with a weak Governor, lets them maintain a stranglehold on the purse strings letting them feel good about their fiscal decisions and deriving all the political benefits, while localities are scrambling to re-arrange their budgets to cope with diminishing support. Even trickle-down stops when your kidneys fail!

Or.... you can learn to live within your means and cut out wasteful and dubious spending.

I like the replies so far; keep them coming!!!

I've noticed that education seems to be a major issue on this thread. Here's an interesting link....

America's Top States For Business#.

^^^In the link above, we can clearly see that the top 10 states are far from being top 10s in education (with the exception of Virginia).

At the other end of the spectrum, many of the "best" states in education (ie NY, NJ, Conn, Mass, Maryland etc) are losing educated workers to NC by the thousands. Your thoughts?
