Sure, it's probably the only way I won't end up getting drunk and bombarding all of my republican facebook friends with threatening messages all night.

Some observations.
  • Sean Haugh pulled down 107,734 votes. This is 3.74%. It's significant because it's more than 2x the difference between Hagan & Tillis. The media will ignore it, but I don't think the DNC will.
  • The early voting statistics I kept posting here suggested that Hagan, as incumbent, was in trouble. Turnout was not occurring in the demographics she needed.
  • Harry Reid is going to be crying in his Geritol this morning after his "Senate Majority PAC" spent million$ upon million$ to air and amazing 13,600 political adverts on local NC TV. (I had noticed their adverts had suddenly disappeared towards the end of early voting.)
  • Voter Turnout was a record high in NC for a mid-term election. This lays to rest the claims that changes to early voting makes it "harder" for people to vote. Just the opposite has happened.
  • NC has completely & thoroughly rejected the Obama Democrats that it voted for in 2008. Perdue & Hagen are now gone and Obama lost the state in 2012.
  • Governor Pat McCrory has to be quite happy. Not because of Tillis, but more because the NC General Assembly remains under GOP control. It's a clear validation of his policies.
  • Obama became a lame duck when the NC race was called.

Wrong conclusion.

NC seems to have become a solidly red state. It was once considered purple.

It's still just as purple.

What is more clear than ever is an urban/liberal vs rural/conservative divide.
Just like Florida has.

I look forward to seeing the vote count breakdowns.
