Seems to be taking a shot at UNC-Chapel Hill.

What we really need is fewer politicians who don't value education.

Indeed. They should put vocational training back into the schools. Not everyone is suited or wants to go to college.

Considering that in 20 years every single truck driver on the planet will be unemployed, how about no. I know he's just trying to position himself as a politician for the 'common man' (ha) against the college educated 'liberal elites;' but you'd think he'd realize that this just comes off as ignorant.

How is anything that you buy going to get anywhere? Even if you buy everything online how does it get to your house?

Self-driving trucks, and delivery drones. I mean even if self-driving cars don't take off or progress far enough, I can see building self-driving only lanes for self-driving trucks (they could go like 100MPH) on major highways, that would make 90% of truck drivers obsolete.

The truth is that automation (if ever fully implemented) could get rid of 70% of all jobs worldwide (truckers, airline pilots, train drivers, teachers, mechanics, restaurant workers, sanitation, construction; you name it). Full automation is highly unlikely though. It's a known fact that we hold back various forms of technology to keep the financial status quo in order.

With that said, McCrory is right on this one. We need more workers who are willing to build things and transport them.

Pssft. I do loans for truck drivers who make 3 or 4 times what I make. Nothing wrong with being a trucker. I mean, you're gone a lot, but you can live like a king making $80-$100K in North Carolina.
