I've lived in NC now for 3 years. Never once, regardless of where my travels have taken me, have I felt unsafe. Not once. Not in a parking lot, not at a fair, I have not felt unsafe anywhere! So would i feel 'safer' at the state fair if my date was carrying a weapon? Nope. And I'd feel a lot LESS safe wondering who else was so paranoid they felt a need to carry a weapon there.

I understand that for some it is a matter of civil rights, but for others, it seems a strange sort of narcissism to assume that you will be the victim if you are not prepared.

Do we have stats on actual crime at the Fairgrounds during the event itself?

I wonder how many feel as I do?

How many people will stay home from the fair if they can NOT carry a weapon?

I'll stay home either way. It costs a fortune and the food is disgusting.

That said, I suspect they won't be allowed. If they are, yes... I think some will stay home because of it.

Criminals don't have any respect for your feelings and you are a sample size of one out of almost 10 million residents of NC. Just because you feel safe doesn't mean you are. And since when is it considered paranoid to want to protect yourself from harm? It is also not a matter of civil rights "for some" since it applies to all law-abiding citizens.

I don't know the crime statistics for the fair however the ultimate argument being made is that Troxler should follow the law. And those that stay home because people are carrying at the fair should never leave their house because concealed permit holders are all around you in public.

It's sad that some people are so fearful of going out in the world that they feel they must go about armed at all times. I can only imagine how painful their lives must be, to have to hide behind a loaded weapon in order to walk about in public. What sort of traumatic events must they have endured in their lives, that this is now the only way they can muster up enough courage to go out and walk among ordinary citizens and their families?

That, or perhaps they're trying to make up for certain physical shortcomings, if you know what I mean.

Blah blah blah CHP holders are mentally defective, can't function without a gun, etc. This is a false trope that gets trotted out whenever concealed carry is discussed. Please explain how wanting to protect yourself or your family from harm is a mental defect.

Was waiting for this one, surprised it took this long. I'm sorry both of you have such a low opinion of people.

Shush. All CCW permit holders are always calm and of sound mind. We're safe as kittens.
