You know I am from the northeast and I have not found people to treat me differently. They comment that I talk different, but overall everyone has been very friendly to me. I think a lot of it is how you treat others. If you are a kind person that treats people with respect, you will get the same kind of treatment. I believe if you do unto others....you know the rest!
This is a sickning forum full of kids.200 years of bickering back and forth about the south and the north which will never change.Why dont all of you go to Mexico and start yelling to everyone who speaks spanish that all of us to the north speaks english and you are not one of them but you think they should speak english and have mariachi to play something by Willie Nelson.

Well said. I have a neighbor that tells me she loves my accent (relocated from NY-Long Island and I believe my neighbor is a native NC). Funny thing is that I love listening to the southern accent. But no matter who it is, whether it's a native NCer, someone from the west coast, east coast or wherever....I will give them the same level of respect that is given to me. Just my opinion of course.
I didn't even know what a Yankee was until I moved here lol! I came here a year ago from CA and I had no clue so many people were relocating here. It's the way of the country!
