Once we started thinking of relocating I did everything in my power to make my life more... sane. I cut my volunteer and political activities down to the ones that remained relevant, I tried hard to get people to carpool with me.
I succeeded in a lot of ways, but living on Long Island, there were some things I could not control. I could not make work less stressful, I could not make the 5 hours or more I spent driving around all day dissappear, either.
One sad casualty of being here is that I miss my daily interactions with my friends, the phone is not the same. It took years to build those friendships and it will take years to build new ones.
