I am visiting Henderson, NC next week for a job interview at the hospital. I am curious as to whether Henderson is a good communit to live in, in 2015, despite seeing some not so good reviews? I will be able to afford living in the "good part of town" if there is one? Also interested in knowing which other communities would offer a good standard of living and not be more then 30 minutes away?

Thanks in Advance SG

Henderson is a low income town with a high crime rate. Its not somewhere I'd want to live. The north side of Durham would be about a 45 minute commute. Thats the closest "nice" place.

You may wish to ask peers at the hospital to see where they live and/or recommend. Henderson was a nice town many years ago but has lagged economically in recent years.

Wake Forest is an up and coming area just north of Raleigh and is just over 30 minutes commute. It is closer to Raleigh, so it would offer lots of things to do and options when not working.

I've had recent surgery at Pardee, and what started as a "simple one-and-done" procedure turned into a nightmare.

If you land there, I hope you are a great surgeon ... they can use one.

Sorry - I am not sure what Pardee is?

You're confusing Henderson and Hendersonville. Two very different towns.

No _I_ apologize. I misread the town as "Hendersonville".

Never mind.
