Depends what you are looking for. How big of a city do you want? What are you looking for in your new home?

I prefer Raleigh, but they're really very similar. Raleigh is a little more high tech, bio-tech, academic and Charlotte is a little more finance and business oriented, but there's some of all that in each area. More museums and universities in the Triangle, more pro-sports in Charlotte. Charlotte has IKEA, but not one in Raleigh.

There's no such thing as "which is BETTER" as if there is one objective answer; the question is which is better for YOU. Some prefer one, some the other. They are both urban areas in a rural state (Charlotte is more "urban", Raleigh more "suburban", both both have both features). Raleigh is closer to the beach, Charlotte closer to the mountains. Each has a "feel" a little different from the other. If you're going on job interviews, spend an extra day in (whichever) town and check it out and see if it feels like where you want; maybe even take a day trip to the other while you're here.

If you love the job offer in Raleigh I would go ahead and accept that as both cities have strengths/weaknesses but finding employment is the key.

The other thing is that if you decide after moving to Raleigh area that you prefer Charlotte, you will be close enough to job hunt in Charlotte from Raleigh and scout out locations to live.

Have you visited either city beyond the interviews?
