I'm going to be moving to the area and was wondering how much the average is for utilities? I'll be living in a 1 BR apartment approximately 850 sq ft. It'll be 2 people in the apartment. How much is the average cost for electric, gas, water and internet in North Carolina?

You might get a little more help by searching in the Coastal NC forum.

Jacksonville is served by the Jones-Onslow Electric company. Your heat and A/C will all be electric, because there is no natural gas service. The charge per KWH is .104, so I will take a guess that electricity for the 1-BR will run $80-100 in the coldest and hottest months, and maybe $30 in the milder fall and spring months.

You should be prepared to pay large deposits for utilities. For example, I had to pay a $250 deposit to obtain water service. That deposit might be waived if you bring a letter of credit from your existing water supplier. We pay no more than $20/month for water with two people in the house.

The Internet will probably be about the same as where you are currently. We have Time-Warner and pay about $40 for the Internet. We use DirectV and it is about $100/month, but we have lots of options.
