Are there any Mobile/Manufactured Home communities (owning the land is a MUST in order for VA to allow us to buy) in the Piedmont area of NC? We are looking for a nice community with double or triple-wides. Not a trailer court.

I've been trying to search for them but I guess I am just not using the right Google terminology to find them.

Thanks.

Try a google search on Clayton Homes and Oakwood Homes (owned by Clayton but better built).

I did Google them. This is what I came up with for Oakwood in NC:

on Ripoff.com Oakwood Homes had so many complaints from customers and how they've been ripped off they are certainly off my list.

I haven't done Clayton Homes yet.

That really surprise me as i know several families who bout a land/home package with Oakwood. Maybe the ripoff.com info was based upon the OLD Oakwood Homes before they went belly up and were bought out by C;ayton.
Try this link for Clayton: Clayton Homes Inc. - Find a Home

The folks I know who live in manufactured homes *and* own their land do not live in MH communities, but on single lots. They had bought the land first, had the septic installed and then bought a home.

After all, the MH community makes the most money from holding the land and renting it out to you at X hundred per month. There may be exceptions, and I think the home seller can help you find them. There are many people living in MH's in Sanford, Vass, Cameron and Aberdeen.

Also check the Clayton Homes of Raleigh website. They are showing land available here: http://www.claytonhomesrdu.com/land-sales.cfm . Many of these are in Wendell.
