Is the Southern Pines area considered coastal? How is it for flooding? Tornadoes? Climate?

Thanks in advance for any info.

No, Southern Pines is in the Sandhills area of NC. It's best known for Pinehurst (neighboring town) and all its golf glory. The weather is average NC weather. Humid when hot, cold when cold. Never heard of tornados coming through the area. Hope that helps.

Southern Pines is also a huge mecca for horse people But nope... you're about 2-3 hours from the coast depending on what beach you're trying to get to. Southern Pines and Pinehurst is a really great place though... very pretty area.

The NC and SC Sandhills were once coastal millions of years ago. Good winter climate, but the summers are hot. Good for peach growing. The NC Sandhill Region is portions of Montgomery, Anson, Richmond, Moore, Hoke, Scotland, Lee, Harnett, Cumberland and Robeson Counties.
