I received my first ever speeding ticket in Graham this morning going 80 in a 65, with a citation for following too closely. The officer told me I could either pay the fine before my court date and not have to appear, or just go ahead and appear. I was in a car wreck in June 2014 that was not deemed my fault and I don't think it went on my driving record, but it did make my insurance skyrocket. My concern is getting points on my license and my insurance going up so much more that I lose it or can't afford it. Would a prayer for judgment continued make it so I do not receive points, or what should I do? Please be as detailed as possible as, like I said, this is my first traffic violation ever and being 21 years old and living on my own I'm pretty terrified and uneducated about these things.
