Hi-
I am originally from NJ (central jersey for my fellow jersey folks!) and moved to Fl about 2 1/2 years ago. Basically hated it from day 1. Am looking to move to NC. I have a husband and 2 young children. I am very concerned with low crime rates and great schools. I am not looking for a city or large town, but a medium sized town with maybe around 10,000 people or so. I am ok with commuting for work if I can find a nice, safe area.

Can anyone give me some recommendations for where to start looking?

Hey i am from Central NJ too! I come from Woodbridge Twp. (Colonia) and lived there all my life before moving to Hunterdon County for a few years and then we up and went to NC. I love it here. Its awesome. I am in Willow Spring and the taxes.. from one NJ'an to another.. are only $1500 a year !!!! Thats not uncommon in most area. I have seen the average HIGH to be 2000!!! LOL No joke.

Car insurance.. oh thats another thing... its only costing us $63 a month for TWO cars - a used truck liability only and a leased new Suburban full coverage. Yes I am not lying... we pay $63 a month. Its unreal.

I am not exactly sure what to tell you for the town to look in. Willow Spring is outside of the "city" stuff and is very country. If you want that, its great. Its got people but not overloaded and the schools are good.

Whatever you choose to do, I welcome your questions... I love helping o ut NJ folks.

Linda
