Again I like to say thanks for all those that took their time to give us some insights on parts of NC. I got back last night and shared my visit with my family. I first arrive at Thomasville, little too undeveloped for me but other parts of Greensboro was okay. I made my way to the Durham, and Chapel Hill and have to say it was really nice. What was really nice was that I had a chance to meet someone at Duke University that just move from California and offer me a job. We are in the process of ironing out the pay and I might just be down there sooner than plan. Getting back to visiting NC, I also made my way down to Charlotte and wow I am very please to see how the city is growing and the potential out there. I can move there tomorrow, today. It is beautiful. I had a real estate agent to show us a few home in different parts of town. South part of Charlotte was very beautiful, still alot of home for the money. South Park is expensive but just beautiful place to live. I am excited and hope that everything works out. I will probably make another visit soon. Thanks everybody.

Hi Zen! Was wondering about you so thanks for the update. So glad it went better than you even thought it would - and wow, a job offer so quick! Congrats! Glad you liked Charlotte too - I agree, south Charlotte is very nice. Good luck with all the upcoming transition

Thomasville is not part of Greensboro. I'm sorry that your impression of Greensboro started out with a run down dumpy town that isn't at all representative of Greensboro (or even part of it).

Charlotte / Raleigh / Greensboro ... They all have wonderfull spots, and all have pockets of bad areas. I'm glad you found an area that you like.

You're LiveInNC, Thomas isn't part of Greensboro. Greensboro is actually nice but I seem to like Charlotte and Raleigh alittle more. Other than that my trip was great. Got to see how inexpensive the homes are. My only concern is that the only thing I will save by moving to NC, the housing? Gas is 20cents cheaper, clothes, food, is the same, property is cheaper because the price of the homes are lower. I am working with the numbers and make sure that it is worth moving. One thing that weights alot right now is the opportunity for opening up small business in NC. For that reason I find it worth moving across the country.

You'll save on housing, gasoline, property taxes, insurance, sales tax etc. Food is a little bit cheaper. I found utilities to be less expensive as well.

However, if you're looking to make a move just for financial reasons you may be disapointed. I left California to get away from the gimme gimme gimme attitude. I've found thet I'm no longer keeping up with the Joneses. Instead I'm kicking back having a beer with the Joneses.

If you move with the attitude that you're going to come out and live like a king, you're kidding youself, if you move with an attitude that you want a better life you'll be better off
