We are currently renting in an HOA in NC, hoping to move this fall. Our landlord pays the HOA annual fee. We do have a community pool and the board is looking to pass that renters will pay an additional fee for access to the pool. Our lease lists that we have all the privileges and responsibilities of the owners, however the pool is not specifically listed. It is listed in the ad from which we rented the property. We could pay the additional amount, but don't feel we should have to. Is this even legal? Thanks for your help.

Busy body neighbors that now have authority over their neighbors, a perfect formula for abuse.

I guess the "owners" are saying that "renters" are a lower class, and must pay more. Since your landlord is paying the HOA extortion errrr fees, then he needs to resolve this with the neighborhood gestapo.

Does your landlord know about this? What does he think? I can only imagine that he would not be for this as he is already paying money so that his tenants can have HOA priveledges. Why should both have to pay??? It doesn't make sense - it should be one or the other.
