The person you politely answered brought up a two year-old post to ask their question. They weren’t responding to any current post either.
So what? They weren't attempting to answer an old one, which is my point. There is no correlation between your post and theirs. Two completely different things. Gee i hope thats clear now. Something tells me otherwise though...

We’ve gone this far down the rabbit hole, we might as well get to the conclusion. According to you, it’s okay to ask new questions on old threads but not give new answers on old threads. That’s a distinction, so I’ll give you that. Just one I don’t hold onto. But I’m glad we got that out of the way.

These threads are as much a community discussion as anything. Someone pulled up a 2-year thread and asked a question about two Winston hospitals. They got an answer. Maybe in 2 years someone looking at Piedmont cities with heart specialists will have their own question. Or maybe just learn something. This has really been a bizarre road you’ve taken us down because you thought the thread could only be discussed on the narrowest of terms you set.
I agree with this logic and never understood why it bothers people. Zero harm in updating an old thread with current info. It may not benefit the original poster but does help others with similar concerns. The ironic part is when a new poster makes a thread on a topic that's been discussed, the same old post police rush in with lectures on how they should've used the search function to read thtrough old threads before posting
No, none of this was happy. I’m just glad we got round to your distinction without a difference (in my words); or vital differences that require you to protect the integrity of the board (your apparent view).
