It matters a lot who the protestors are. Citizen protest is a lot different from monopolistic, corporate, self-interested, hypocritical protest. The NCAA has dirty hands. Push back against protestors who have dirty hands.
Last time. Your opinion of the NCAA is meaningless in the context of this discussion.

Last time for you? OK. But realize that there is no thread here without involving the NCAA. That's what it's about. That's the topic. Their motives and character are therefore, of course, highly relevant.

I disagree. The real topic is HB2, and the secondary topic is the latest economic blow that the state has received as a result of it. You should be far more concerned about the character and motives the General Assembly than the NCAA.
The topic of thread for about 100 posts and will remain as such
NCAA & added topic of ACC pulling out of North Carolina in regards to the bill HB2 Please keep the topic in regards to these two organizations relating to this bill..
Our opinions on a issue are just that, opinions.
Highly subjective. Personal preferences. Quirks, even. Leave wiggle room for dialogue, others may not see things the same as you, or been there as long as you, and any one of us can be wrong.
Pouncing on someone you disagree with runs contrary to the spirit of this board and its members. We are here to help each other.

I get what you're saying, but do you think the NCAA, as a business operates any differently than other businesses? Of course they are out for their own neck and money. As I said before, it's why states pander; it's a major reason why some have higher taxes than others, among other reasons.
NC set itself up by not making a clear law and instead making one that overreaches and in some ways, makes it seem like they're moving backwards. So just like PayPal and all the other businesses that have pulled out, the NCAA announced it. Either way you cut it, you have to admit it's just hilariously sad that the state sits there and does nothing as it loses so many opportunities.

It's still just a hypocritical few. Thousands of businesses are expanding and carrying on as usual. The primary impact to businesses that aren't playing it for PR is that they aren't being forced to allow men into the women's showers and restrooms. California only had 250 discrimination lawsuits last year and most of those were age related. The few we have will carry on as usual through the federal system. Business as usual for everyone except those trying to benefit from the controversy.
And it might not be over for losing college championships. The CIAA, based in Charlotte, holds most of their championships in North Carolina, including the lucrative football championship game (Durham) and the men's and women's basketball tournaments (Charlotte). Also, the MEAC and Big South Conference have scheduled championships in North Carolina this school year.
This will be a costly law for NC even if the governor is replaced because of the entrenched legislature due to gerrymandering. So do not expect HB2 to be repealed even if the state loses $5 billion a year.
