Getting back to more substantive discussion that's on topic to how this information relates to North Carolina, the real shame is that now that the population outside of the most populated counties actually do have representation, instead of focusing on real issues that could benefit their areas (how do we allocate educational resources, improve incomes and education levels in our district, promote real economic development, etc.), they are more focused on culture wars that exists in their minds only (and maybe a small (I hope) faction of citizens) and will not benefit their constituents. Examples include HB2 and lesser known bills like putting the so-called "right to work" in the state constitution, constantly tying the hands of local governments to address issues that they have the local knowledge/buy in to address, creating anti-gun control laws that that defy any sense of public safety and reason, allowing DNA testing of employees' by employers, allowing Internet browsing history to be sold without consumers' consent, and the list goes on and on (it's something new just about every week if not more often).
Many of these legislators are supposed to represent citizens in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 counties as shown on the map (notable exceptions include folks like Larry Pittman, who is from Cabarrus County.
