The flu season continues to linger in North Carolina, nearly six weeks after the typical end of the six-month season.

State health officials reported Thursday that while there were no flu-related deaths for the period that ended May 5, there were 13 victims accounted for from previous weeks.

The number of deaths in the week with the highest victim count — the week that ended March 11 — has been raised from 30 to 32. The next highest week — for the period that ended March 4 — was raised from 27 to 29.

There also were two more deaths, from four to six, reported statewide for the week that ended April 29. The week that ended April 15 went from five to seven, while the week that ended April 8 has risen from 13 to 16, and the week that ended April 1 went from 15 to 17.
