McCrory totally turned me off from ever voting for anyone in NC with an "R" after their name. It may well be that Dan Forest-Gump turns into Dan Forest-Trump. Once bitten ...twice shy!
Well said!!

Curious as to why the I-77 toll road is a mess when I-540 / NC-540 seems to be running smoothly. Did I miss something here?
Actually, Cooper has neutered the General Assembly, thankfully. The GA has much more power than the governor. Before the governor was granted veto power, it was pretty much just a figurehead position. If you've lived in NC for any length of time you should know that.

You should vote for Cooper, and also vote for democratic legislators, in order to change the balance of power.

In North Carolina, the General Assembly has always been more powerful than the governor. In the past, when the GA and the governor were dominated by the Democrats, things got done ( think Jim Hunt). Even though Cooper has veto power, the GA still calls the shots. In fact, they recently packed up and went home, despite the fact that no budget was passed.

The teachers union is actually considering going on strike because Cooper vetoed a reasonable increase in pay, in order to act tough. The GA called his bluff.

I voted for McCrory's opponent. I refused to vote for him after he spent 4 years trashing Bev on WCNC's Sunday morning public affairs program. On that round, McCrory's opponent was the lieutenant governor, Walter Dalton. Prior to that he had been the state senator for Cleveland and Rutherford counties. People on both sides liked him. That was good enough for me.

I also liked Walter Dalton. I couldn't stomach "Bev". In retrospect, I should have voted for Dalton, but at the time, I thought that McCrory was the best candidate.

I was disgusted with McCrory for the way that he trashed Bev. Every Sunday he tooted his own horn and trashed her. He was not mayor of Charlotte with a nationally collapsed economy. He wouldn't have done one whit better than Bev did.

People in Cleveland County range from bright blue to bright red. I never heard a bad word about Dalton, no matter what the person's views were. There's only so much that a governor can do with a super majority of the opposition party.

I'd love for Phil Berger to get the boot.

Yes sb! I voted for McCrory over Dalton because Dalton made a big deal about taxing Amazon purchases, but little did I realize that Amazon was building warehouses in NC just about that time, which would have rendered all Amazon purchases taxable anyway. Oh well, live and learn!

Hopefully, McCrory will never win again, unless he moves to SC. Oh, I was aware that Amazon was building warehouses at that time. I didn't hear Dalton say that. I was aware that the Republicans in DC were talking about making everything bought online taxable.

It's my understanding that McCrory might run for US Senate, I believe because Burr is retiring. I would never vote for him, but I wouldn't count him out. He might make a better Senator than gov.

I wouldn't vote for McCrory for dog catcher. He's classless.

He whined for 4 years when Bev beat him. He came out to my town and made a ton of promises. He kept none. On top of that the Catawbas bought land just outside of my town and applied to build a casino. He refused to sign for it. An independent party had calculated that the casino complex would be good for approximately 4000 jobs.

In 4 years, Bev came out here at least 6 times to announce jobs. McCrory came once, to announce a Chinese mill.
