He'e urging the GOP to pass a "clean" voter ID bill to stop alleged abuses, even though few were found during the recounts for his effort to get re-elected as governor. And he think that Gov. Cooper’s lawsuits challenging new laws from the General Assembly that curb the governor’s power--the ones that he had when he was in office--are a waste of time and money.
I guess the only thing good about this is it would seem to indicate Pat still hasn't found a job since most private employers would kind of frown on one of their employees constantly seeking out the press to cry about one thing or another.
HB2 hurt him a lot. A lot of people didn't even know much about him until his name was put all over that controversy. It attracted national media attention and made NC look like Mississippi. It literally did cost NC billions in business.
I don't think the toll lanes did much damage to him as those were largely irrelevant to most people in NC outside the small amount who live around Lake Norman.

HB2 was probably the biggest problem, but the toll lanes probably were the straw that broke the camel's back. He lost enough normally-reliable Republican votes in Huntersville, Cornelius, and Davidson to tip the balance.
