Myrtle Beach shootings: NC beaches tout family-friendly atmosphere | News & Observer
“The negative activities that happened over the weekend [at Myrtle Beach], the vast majority of the people that come here would not be associated with,” [Sunset Beach Mayor Robert] Forrester said, saying he hears mostly of day trips to the alligator adventure shows or Broadway at the Beach. 'You wouldn’t find the same kind of population that stays there as stays here.'"

Hmmmmmm...

Folks could easily go to North Myrtle to get away from the occasional craziness of Myrtle.

reading the story, and watching the video ....

they said the criminal was from NC

the incident occurred in North Myrtle, at 4th Ave and Ocean Blvd. Right?

Yes criminal is alleged from NC: 4th Avenue and North Ocean Blvd is in Myrtle Beach, two blocks south of the old Pavillion. (Close to the boardwalk)
This alleged rowdy behavior began about where the Family Kingdom is.

This unfortunate incident probably will create a spike in North Carolina beaches.
Six shootings from Friday til Monday is alarming. It's heartbreaking because we go there about every other year
and I want to plan my next trip when the new hotel is built but what has been going on.

The city government is in denial or the mayor squashes crime filtering into the media.
Anyways I rarely give reviews particularly unsavory ones but I created this thread, feel free to read it.
Watch out for the rose color glasses

Myrtle Beach has so much more potential. All the way around. these stories don't help. I don't foresee a huge dent in tourism because of this, but some will probably take notice and go elsewhere. Hope this doesn't lead to excessive profiling.

I still know so many people who flock there constantly... Hopefully, the chamber and business leaders there step their games up.

I've been to Myrtle Beach several times in my life and generally love going. Honestly, the reason why I love going is for the stuff to do and the nightlife. However, having a young family now means that a lot of those things are simply not on the agenda like they were when I'd go down there with my friends. So, having said that, I'm more open to try other beaches, and honestly, the stories of the shootings do alarm me. I'm more than OK with going to a different beach altogether as long as it's beautiful, relaxing, and it still provides plenty of choices for food and family activities.

Or just go to any of the other great beaches in SC... Seabrook, Kiawah, Edisto, Hilton Head, Sullivans Island, Folly, Isle of Palms.

Do people who go to Myrtle Beach actually go to the beach?
