I process what you said just fine. The problem is that you're not accurately repeating my point. I specifically stated,
"Large metropolitan areas carry their states in general." NEVER did I say a singular big city carries every state.
And I'd disagree that NC is the state least dominated by a single major city. I would easily give that honor to Ohio.
