Thanks urbancharlotte. Diversity is key for my family. Miami is very accepting of blended families and therefore have not experienced anything negative about it. Would love to have the same acceptance wherever I choose to live. It is important for me and for my son who is only 3 to grow up without the added stress and of course his safety and that of my other son and daughter, also (3). Excited about visiting this fall and getting closer to making a decision. We are looking at Classical schools in the areas since the majority of the children relocating are under the age of 15 only two are college bound. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Much appreciated.

One family are both nurses; the other is nurse/teacher and I work in the legal/executive assistant field. Kids from ages 17-3. Hispanic backgrounds for all.

Looks like we will be visiting in November. Excited.
I'd suggest that you make separate posts on the Triangle & Charlotte boards, focusing on the jobs, & ethnic ammenities. If you're going to be looking for Puerto Rican &/or Cuban ammenities, please specify that.

Thanks, was thinking of doing that as well. We are not looking to be in a Hispanic community as we have lived in the US for over 50 years so that's not really a big deal. We are just trying to get a feel for the cities to see where we will be happy. Just having season changes is going to be amazing as well as leaving the terribly fast paced/expensive Miami behind. Thanks for the help.

With children that young I'd highly recommend Discovery Place or Ray's Splash during your visit to Charlotte. Here are a few videos and links to both places.

Discovery Place Charlotte

Ray's Splash Planet water park

I was trying to be tactful. If you are Puerto Rican or Cuban & state it you will get different advice than simply stating Hispanic. If you don't state a specific ethnicity, Some will probably assume that you are Mexican & respond accordingly. There have been threads about grocery stores that cater to Cubans & Puerto Ricans, on the Charlotte board.

Hey no worries not easily offended over here. I wish I could put myself in a category but my immediate family goes like this: mom Argentina dad Costa Rica me Nicaragua middle sis American and little sister Costa Rican. It's just not that important to us. We are all fluent in English and speak it at home. I say it because we're not American born with the exception of the middle sister and of course all the kids. Miami is a melting pot so I guess that's why I mention diversity.
