Telecommunications company considers HQ move to Charlotte post-merger

Spirit Communications, a telecom company currently headquartered in Columbia, is eyeing a move to the Queen City. Investment firm EQT Corp. acquired a majority stake in Spirit in April. Following that acquisition, EQT combined Spirit with Lumos Networks Corp., a fiber-based service provider based in Waynesboro, Virginia, that EQT bought late last year.
The CEO of the combined Spirit-Lumos entity has referenced a Spirit headquarters move to Charlotte, according to Patrick Alsup, a Spirit spokesman, but nothing has been set in stone for location or timeframe for relocation, he continued. A move likely wouldn't occur until sometime next year.

The Munich flight is being shifted from PHL, which will get a different German flight. I'd suspect that the BMW plant in Greer, SC has something to do with that.

Doesn't make sense why it's so expensive to fly from Charlotte.

https://www.bizjournals.com/triangle...-airfares.html

Round trips to Los Angeles are always $100+ more expensive from CLT than RDU. I'm soon flying to San Diego from RDU for $120 round trip from Frontier.

Im not subscribed so can't read the article. For anyone who can is there evidence as to why? My sister who lives in Greensboro and flies a lot will go through either RDU or CLT simply depending on the better deal. But for the last 3+years she has not flown from CLT including when she goes to LA next month which i figured CLT would offer a better deal for. I knew there were reports out already on the cheapest airports in NC but im kind of shocked to hear CLT have the highest fares in the country now? Is that really the case or is it just bending statistics to for a click bait title?

American is expensive. Find their hubs &, unless they've added a lot of flights from cheaper airlines, you have an expensive airport.
