Ingersoll Rand (HQ in Ireland, but effectively based in Davidson, NC) merging a division of the company with Gardner Denver based in Milwaukee.
That combination will be spun out into a new public company also based in Davidson, while the remainder of IR will remain there as well.
As a US headquartered company with $6.6B in revenue, the new spin-off SHOULD be a new Fortune 500 based here in Meck Co. The current CEO of Gardner Denver will become the CEO of the combined entity, and likely have discretion about if the physically separate themselves from IR.....cue new Uptown HQ speculation

That’s quite a few Fortune 500 HQ’s clt has scored. Of course some of those like BBT/SunTrust aren’t official yet.
Also, quite a few BofA-er’a based in CLT rumored to get Wells CEO. Strong feeling CLT could be the official HQ soon
Bank on it: the Wells Fargo Championship is sticking around. On Tuesday afternoon at Quail Hollow Club, in a bank-sponsored hospitality area near the first tee, executives from Wells Fargo, the PGA Tour and the club disclosed a five-year contract extension that will keep the tournament in Charlotte through 2024.
John Kane is nearing completion of the first phase (center right in the photo) of a 3 phase project on the north end of downtown Raleigh, just east of Glenwood South. Phase 1 is 400+ apartments and a Publix grocery store. Phase 2 (to the immediate left in the photo from Phase 1) starts this Summer and will include more apartments over ground floor retail with an office building opposite the apartments to form a central plaza. For Phase 3, at the intersection of the new Capital Blvd bridge over Peace Street (and to the bottom in the photo from Phase 1), Kane is currently pursuing a variance to the UDO to go 40 stories in a mixed use project of retail, housing and office space. A "Phase 4" is possible as the city is contemplating going out for RFP on city owned land in lower left quadrant of the photo.
...continuation of my previous post. On the opposite side of the new Capital Blvd Bridge and realignment, another developer is set to also request variance to 40 floors on the property facing the new access road under construction in the photo below. If both variances are approved, the approach to downtown from the north will be flanked by two new towers.

Odd place for a 40 floor tower. Hopefully that’s residential and not office

It's a little bit unclear what's being pursued. That whole eastern side of Capital Blvd is being reworked as part of a the bridge replacement project. The bridge itself is moving toward the west and opening up a corridor for a new "road" that exits Capital to the south of Peace St. and re-enters it north of it once passed The Cotton Mill. This "road" will also act as the exit to Peace. This new road configuration opens up that long dead piece of property to development. Oh, and adjacent to that property is one of the possibilities for a future commuter rail stop. Perhaps there's some thinking ahead?
Roy Carroll announced his plans to build a massive project in Downtown. "Carroll South of Ball Park will feature 280 luxury residential units, as well as tens of thousands of square feet of retail and restaurant space, a 150-room Aloft Hotel and a 20-story office tower."
The office tower portion isn't set to be built for a few years as it's phase 3 I believe. But if it does get built as proposed at 20 stories, this would likely make it the 3rd tallest in downtown Greensboro?
I really like the renderings and all of the residential, I just hope it doesn't take an ungodly amount of time to finish like Carroll at Bellemeade.
Other renderings of Greensboro's proposed downtown development which will include retail, residential, Aloft Hotel, Conference Center, 20 story office tower and grocery store. Also the planned Project Slugger across the street is back up to 9 stories due to strong office demand.
