It was suppose to have a top floor restaurant and observation roof. It was to be called Triad Tower. But then the Great Recession killed the project.
That was a very stupid project and I’m glad it fell through.

This was the rendering. It was originally planned to be 14 stories as shown here but they took the same design and made it 22 stories. It does look weird in a sea of parking lots.

He actually wanted to build it as high as 25 stories. But would clearly have needed FAA approval being that close to Piedmont Triad Intl.

It was to include a penthouse restaurant, observation deck, floor to ceiling aquariums, and a ground level helipad.

Here was the video

Eww I bet this is what Coastal Credit Union's 15 story tower will look like once built. A boring neo-neo-classical tower in a sea of asphalt parking surface and maybe a parking deck.

$600,000 EXPANSION TO CHARLOTTE DOUGLAS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TERMINAL LOBBY STARTED December 10, 2019.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport started its largest project on Tuesday by breaking ground on a $600 million expansion and renovation of the main terminal lobby. The overhaul will add 175,000 square feet to the existing 191,000-square-foot main terminal that opened in 1982.

The expanded main terminal will jut out 90 feet from its existing front doors. A 150,000-square-foot canopy will extend along the new entrance to provide shade and cover for passengers walking between the main lobby and the hourly and rental car deck. In addition, a subterranean walkway will be built to take incoming passengers from baggage claim to the adjacent deck without having to navigate ground-level car traffic.

^ I'm very much looking forward to this being done, but man oh man the airport entrance is going to be such a mess for 5 years. It will be worth it in the end though as the current facility can't handle the amount of O&D passengers passing through these days. Christmas and Thanksgiving rush can be especially rough when an above average number of passengers check bags through and the lines block circulation in the lobby. Temporary pain for long term gain.

Downtown Greensboro update.

Guilford County plans to sell Edgeworth Building/property. The interesting thing as that the property butts up against the land where the city parking deck and Carroll South of the Ballpark are going. Great timing for a company....let's say like Novare Group to come in a purchase. If there is no upset bid, local developer Samet Corp will purchase the property.

There has been rumors that Novare Group out of Atlanta recently came to Greensboro and met with the Mayor and city officials about a possible Skyhouse tower and they are interested in purchasing property near the ballpark. The timing of the rumors and this announcement is interesting. But we'll see.

- YELLOW - represents Project Slugger

- BLUE - represents Carroll South of the Ballpark (9 story Aloft Hotel, apartments and 20- story office tower.)

- PURPLE- represents the city parking deck

-RED- represents the property the county is selling for development.

Other downtown development. Inside of the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts. The seats have arrived.
