On Tuesday, Capitol Broadcasting Co. and its development partners Hines and USAA Real Estate unveiled plans for a massive new mixed-use destination and the latest expansion of CBC's American Tobacco Campus in downtown Durham.
Plans call for three new towers plus structured parking at the site of the former University Ford property west of ATC – including a new multifamily high-rise up to 14 stories and a pair of state-of-the-art, mixed-use office buildings showcasing Hines’ newly developed all-timber construction concept.
There was a time downtown Charlotte was some skyscrapers lining Tryon with a gap of parking lots in the middle. The gap is filled and the downtown area continues to expand East/West, thankfully. Source below

I thought it was going to be a professional advertisement showcasing the city.
I don't know what the message is other than "look at how big in land area we are and at what we've built."
The roofs of very large houses seems to imply that wealth and big homes are a signature feature of the city.
But all in all it's exactly in keeping with the message that everyone touts.
I don’t know how your mind processes anything related to Charlotte, highway lighting and signage.
As far as why the person made the video: it just seems like they’re artist. Based on the other videos, it looks like the person films their experience. Maybe that’s their highlights of Charlotte? They’re just creating a pretty video.
As far as my posting of it, it’s because the city is filling in a lot. The downtown used to be along a few blocks of Tryon street with a gap of parking lot in the middle.
Now look how impressive 15 years later. All those empty blocks are filled up except 2 small ones. And the square white building the bottom was replaced.
With the downtown riverfront Aloft Hotel in Wilmington about to top out, the downtown region (Leland is across the Brunswick river from Wilmington) continues its massive growth.
I'll try to take pics Monday if it isn't a hurricaney day, but site work has started heavy on Hub RTP. They have fencing and barricade up on NC54 from Davis Dr down to Park Offices Dr, and on Davis over to RTP HQ. Also have signage up advertising office space. There has been lots of land clearing going on behind that vacant strip center and near the Wells Fargo. I wonder when demolition will begin on that Wells Fargo and vacant strip? I'm assuming those aren't part of the final plans! WF seems to still be open too (which is unfortunate, ALL WFC should close permanently but that's another thread...)
