Yeah these numbers seem off. Especially for Durham. Im pretty sure thats over estimating Durhams population by quite a bit.
I checked the census site. Clt1985 actually posted the population numbers for Durham COUNTY. The city itself is at 267k...it's growing fast but not THAT fast lol.
How the population in the top 10 cities in North Carolina did from 2010 to 2017.

Charlotte may have already (2018) passed Indianapolis for 16th largest US city. It also may pass San Francisco by the next census and become 15th.
Talk about making news.
As well, there has been a huge population gap formed between Greenville/Concord in the 90k group, then Gastonia/Jacksonville in a 70K group and then another gap until you get to Chapel Hill/Rocky Mount/Burlington/Huntersville in the 50K group.
Charlotte- 884,509 (I have hear that Charlotte now is gaining about 60 people a day.)
Indianapolis- 866,742
Columbus, Ohio- 884,436
San Francisco - 889,792
I have see articles about San Francisco, is now not growing as fast as it was a few years ago. I think you are right that Charlotte will pass San Francisco in 2020.
The Cape Fear River by downtown Wilmington is a magnet for development.
Wilmington, NC is in my opinion one of the best all around coastal locations in the country, about as close to perfect for things I value.
1)The Pacific is too cold,
2) Florida is either too old or too trashy-crime ridden. I don't like the West coast of Florida nor do I consider the Gulf to be true ocean.
3) The Northeast beach communities have too many months of cold weather.
Wilmington has mild winters and the elements of a normal, year-around place to live unlike the seasonal nature of the Crystal Coast and the Outer Banks which feel deserted for 8 months a year.
The only thing I wish the Wilmington area had was more easily accessible beach front, and traffic is very hectic in the summer months. It feels like Atlanta's rush hour pretty much all day.
I was kinda hoping for Red Hat Cycle. Citrix will do though.
