At 60 mph that's 2 and half hours extra driving distance on a good day but Boston does benefit from having after faster train service to DC.

I imagine if they wanted to be near the Pentagon, then they would have chosen DC.

Because if the Army ultimately decides that they want the Futures Command to be a stone’s throw from it’s largest base while also being within reasonable distance from the Pentagon, then Boston has no chance.

Ft. Bragg has a lot of Special Operations forces including Green Berets, JSOC, and others that would be among the first to take advantage of any new technologies that the Futures Command develops, so I imagine that's another consideration for the Army.

I think we all think Raleigh would be the best choice. I think it will all come down to which person or persons in congress that has the power to make the site choice. This is not all way the best way to make choices for military sites.

There will be more posts from Charlotte and the Triangle because there's more going on in the development department. All are welcome to post though. I'm particularly curious to see what's going on in the Wilmington area.

I'm adding a new wrinkle to this thread. I'm especially interested in new downtown restaurants. As many of you know I love new and unique restaurants. Chains are ok though. As long as they are unique to the state.

I used to check out many of the spots/developments from the old thread. Whenever I'd happen to be in that particular city. Hopefully the info will flow again. To highlight all that's going on in our great state
I think we need to be reminded of the subject matter.

I think Raleigh's relative proximity to DC and Ft Bragg are key assets for any military project.

Proximity to DC seems irrelevant.
