Since it's Halloween, my office is full of candy and it got me thinking... What are some NC-based treats? I know Red Bird Peppermint Candy is made in Lexington. Can you think of any others?

Within the Triangle you have Escazu Chocolates and Videri Chocolate (both in Raleigh) as well as Chapel Hill Toffee. If you want to expand from candy to cake there's also Chez Moi Bakery which has a truck but also will ship their delicious rum cakes.

Not North Carolina-created but made in Mebane! Hi-Chews (to me they are like the Japanese version of Starbursts).

Another local chocolate/caramel maker: Red Light Chocolates Red Light Chocolates Page 4.

Moravian cookies are also made in NC (Winston-Salem): https://www.salembaking.com/about-moravian-cookies/

Wow, I picked up a bunch of Hi-Chews at the airport in Hong Kong and I've been hooked ever since! Glad my addiction will support a local plant

So much easier to get now too! I had always gotten them from the Asian grocery stores but Target carries Hi-Chews now - although not all of the flavors.

I just wish they offered tours of the Hi-Chew plant!
