I was wondering if any insurance plans cover IVF in North Carolina. I know it is not a state law that insurance companies cover this but I was wondering if there are any insurance plans/companies that do.

My company covered IVF, but capped the drugs at 4k which got me through one cycle, the infertility is only covered at 10k lifetime but all the surgical room epenses went under regular so they only took the dr services out of the infertility cap. I have heard that time-warner,bank of america, wachovia, and tiaa-cref actually all cover ivf

Duke does, I think, but you have to have worked there for a couple of years first.

I do not know if i can really state my worry accurately. My wife and i just reloccated to the U.S (cincinnati) from Africa. She needs an IVF that is not covered by her job site insurance and we are yet to have such a credit history that can permit us obtain financing. It sounds like we will have to finance it ( which we cannot afford now whereas she is aging out) or otherwise ... i do not know what. May be privately get an insurance that covers IVF which i do not know of any. Please get us out of it. Every little bit of advice will help.

Most insurances do not cover IVF and some only cover it partially. My advise to you is depending on the age of your wife, if you can perhaps scrape the money for the drugs, you can harvest her eggs now and save (freeze) them for later when you can afford IVF. Hope this helps.

PS...there is also a link on NCCRM.com (north carolina center for reproduuctive medicine) where this couple is helping other couples financially through their non-profit organization with infertility problems.
