Does anybody have an idea about how is this neighborhood in Hickory: 37th Ave Ne Hickory, NC 28601? The satellite view of the area shows a mid size neighborhood but I wonder about quality of life regarding crime, traffic and services.

It looks to be in a decent area and appears to be a nice neighborhood. I like Hickory, it has some nice things about it. Traffic isn't terribly congested and there is a nice mix of restaurants, neighborhoods and shopping options. Plus their convention center puts on some neat stuff. A couple of weekends ago it was a dinosaur exhibit.

I lived in Hickory briefly 20 years ago, at ~ 25th Ave. Given the retail near 37th, you should be fine. There's a Hickory Tavern (local multi-outlet sports bar) and a Publix (which can't have been open more than 3 years). The further north, you're just getting less-developed (at least back then). But you're closer to the lake. Should be a-OK.

Thank you for the information. I'll be looking forward to the events at the convention center if I decide to move to Hickory. Again, thank you.

I lived there years ago at 31st NW...as far as I know you'd be fine there...used to be heavy traffic at key times but part or maybe all of Hwy 127 has been widened...

Are you going to visit? Did you look on Google Earth? Or Street views??

I should know the area well. Look at my name here. It is a great area of Hickory. The area is safe. There are numerous places to eat, doctor offices are aplenty, grocery stores as mentioned. It is close to Lake Hickory, so if you enjoy boating and/or fishing you are in luck.
