Copied and pasted in varying coastal NC/SC forums...As a native Floridian who has seen a few of these I would urge you and anyone you know if living within 100 miles of the coast, living in a flood prone area anywhere mid-state or east or in a home/building minus hurricane construction standards to pack up yourselves (and all of your pets!) and drive out of the scope of landfall to North Florida, the western half of Georgia, east Tennessee, the western tip of NC or higher ground in western VA. Avoid the major interstates which can become severely traffic clogged and a hazard as gas supplies dwindle leaving you stranded. Take the state/county roads and leave with a full tank of gas if possible along with cash from an ATM in case of power outages later. Stay safe everyone and plan ahead!

Same here, only from Danville. I’ve got a lot of friends in my native Wayne County, as well as Wilson. They’re already expecting the Neuse River to flood again. We’re supposed to get a lot of rain from it up here too and the Dan River floods just as easily as the Neuse.

What’s really bad is that much of eastern NC still hasn’t fully recovered from Matthew and here comes Florence. They just can’t catch a break.

Have good friends down there in NC; here's hoping that everyone rides this out safely- wherever they are!

...and evacuate if you have to; rebuilding is a lot easier than reincarnating!
