There's a reason that NJ taxes are so high and that because they always opt for the "ideal" solution without any consideration what it actually costs. $10,000 to move a bear around means $10,000 on someone's property tax bill or $10,000 a teacher isn't getting paid (and if you don't think it costs, $10k to move a NJ bear, you've never seen a government contract...)
The wildlife employees from one or both states relocate the bears that need to be relocated. There is no government contract to a 3rd party. The wildlife employees are being paid regardless, & the states own the relocation equipment & vehicles. Costs of a tranquilizer dart & some gas don't come to 10 grand, but nice try. If the bear is aggressive, it gets shot.
Yeah the two most egregious power-grabs did not pass. The voter suppression one unfortunately did. And the one that gives control of hunting and fishing to the NCGA did too, and the income tax one, and the victim one with Frasier Crane and the big money behind it did.
Biggest nail biter left is NC District 09. Not looking good for McCready at the moment. I thought he might have had it given the barrage of advertising we have had to endure from him over the last two months here in the Charlotte area. In the last month, it was on almost 24/7. Democrats must have really want to turn that seat.
I'm guessing he will ask for a recount as, at the moment, refusing to concede even though Harris has declared victory.
That 4 out of 6 of these passed really demonstrates how crooked politics is in NC.
I'm not saying that some of this stuff isn't a good idea in some sort of way, but actually knowing what the final amendment would say would be nice.
Bizarre. Truly bizarre. These had no place on a ballot.
How can we vote to ratify amendments that have yet to be written?
The people who voted yes to these just wrote a blank check to the NCGA and the NCGA's balance of power shifted last night.
If you said yes to one of these, why'd you do it now?
Took the words right off my keyboard.
