We are looking to move our family from las vegas to somewhere in north carolina. We are sick of the shootings happening right down the street and the terrible crime in las vegas. We just want to safely raise our family and purchase a house 300-350,000. Any advice or information would be so greatly appreciated. We were contemplating outside the Charlotte area but it looks like there's lots of crime there.

Charlotte is a growing city and yes we have crime. However, crime is every where you just have to be careful what area of town you choose.

In your price range there are alot of housing in and around Charlotte. Please do make a point of visiting this area and checking us out.

Our church has alot of multi racial families. Believe me that will not be an issue for your children here.

Good luck on your search!

You should consider the areas of York and Union counties closest to Charlotte. I think they fit the bill.

Sounds like you have described Cary and some of its surrounding areas, to me. Look at the website for the Town of Cary.

Keep in mind that everything, every place, there is some trade-off involved.

I was thinking the same thing, since this almost fits Cary to a tee. If you wanted to expand your search I would look in areas of North Raleigh and Cary, but it seems like the OP wants to stay around Charlotte however.

Another area to check out is SW and northern Durham - very nice and you can get even more house for your money there than you can in nearby Cary or north Raleigh. You'll also find that Durham is more racially and economically diverse than Cary or Raleigh.

You could try Apex or Holly Springs small town feeling but still growing.
