Dumb question from your neighbour up north, is this weather considered unusual?
I have lived here for 10 years now. This is the worst I have seen. Still I only have about 4 inches. I am near High Rock Lake.
When I was still commuting to Charlotte, it was pretty strange. Side roads would be close to impassable for days after a 3 inch storm. We have to rely on the sun to clear the roads.
I do not bother to clear my driveway, it will be gone once the sun comes out.
I never have figured out why people shovel snow? I never have
and never will shovel snow. There is no where I have to go or be
that would require me to shovel snow...

In some places, the snow lasts longer than a day or 2.

Really?? I would have thought you would have seen more than 4 inches over the years. Is High Rock Lake in the Thermal Belt?
I think we had more than this here in Chapel Hill last January. I believe that snow was about 12 inches and this one was right about 7. We had some HUGE snow falls in the early 2000s, around 20 inches in places around the Triangle.
Yeah isn’t High Rock Lake in Davidson County? That area has had several big snows this decade.
