We are looking to move ourselves and our family "pets" from south Jersey to NC. We would like to find a home with some property maybe 5 acres. We are looking for an existing home not a trailer on alot of land. Somewhere private and quiet where we will not disturb our neighbors with our "noisey" pets. Horses goats peacocks etc. My husband will be working security at one of the airports. We have visited twice east and west and now are going to be looking in the central area.

My question is what towns come to mind when you think of small farms that are within a 40 min drive to any city/airport.

Im finding alot of homes with property but the zoning doesnt allow animals.
I liked the idea of living on a farm with everything I needed right around me. I thought I wanted to be private and out in the country but after visiting parts of NC and how far everything is spread out. Ive decided to try and have my cake and eat it too. By bringing in my animals and us as close to Walmart and the food store as possible without having my neighbors getting upset when the peacocks start yelping. HaHa
We now rent and live on the last 20 acre farm in the middle of a growing city in Lakewood. Cant wait to get out before they take over the place.

Lincoln County has a lot of farmland and is within 40 minutes of the Charlotte airport.

Ditto.

I am just over the county line in Gaston County (my address is Lincolnton though) and I am SO enjoying driving through the farm land in the area. I'm about 30 minutes from the airport. I'm halfway between Lincolnton and Dallas.

There are lots of beautiful homes on acreage, especially to the north of Cherryville (I think up 274 is the road I was on yesterday.)
