Out of curiosity, why Salisbury or Lexington? I recall that you moved to Southport a few years ago and after a short time, moved back to MA. I am also from New England and Salisbury or Lexington would not be my top choices for relocation.
We lived in the Raleigh area for 10-1/2 years and moved to Southport last August. I love Raleigh but it is just too far from the beach and real estate has gotten expensive. Southport meets our needs for retirement (cost of living, slower pace and proximity to beach). It reminds us of Newburyport or Gloucester.
You can use realtor.com and their advanced search. Put in your city and prices range, then select community amenities. It will have a check box for "senior community". If nothing turns up, try the "security features" option, or limit it to one-story homes.
I work in Lexington. It's a small town that's not high on the transplant radar. It's nice enough, I guess, but I don't think it has a 55+ community unless you count nursing homes. There's no Target or Barnes and Noble. There'a a Walmart and a Lowe's, I think.
If you didn't like Southport, I'm not sure you'd enjoy either of those towns at all.
I would agree. Especially coming from Cape Cod. The OP has no returned since posting.
